  6. If you like al fresco shopping, then this is the place for you. The weekly makers’ market along The Esplanade is an institution, with more than 150 traders setting up stalls against the backdrop of St Kilda beach every Sunday. During summer, the St Kilda Twilight Market draws a big crowd to the O’Donnell Gardens every Thursday evening. As well as artisans selling bohemian clothing, jewellery and knick-knacks, there’s a robust selection of food trucks dishing up affordable (and often healthy) meals, making it a pretty cheap and cheerful way to have dinner with friends. Also, on the first Saturday of each month, the Veg Out St Kilda Farmers’ Market is held at the community gardens, making it easy to stock up on fresh, organic and free-range foods.
